Computing and The Web

The Information Technology Department at the Hariri Canadian University provides general access to computing and communication facilities for HCU’s entire community.  These facilities include a high-speed campus network linked to the Internet, personal computer labs, central e-mail services, Help Desk, computing services in the residences, and sophisticated scientific computing and visualization laboratories.

Students, faculty, administrators and staff at Hariri Canadian University can access a wide variety of computing resources for communication, coursework, instruction, and research purposes. The Information Technology department provides general-access facilities for the entire community, including the Hariri Canadian University Campus Network, a high-speed network interconnecting computer resources and linking them to the Internet. 

Campus Computing Facilities

Public and Departmental Computing labs are available on campus.
Public Computing Labs are equipped with personal computers, Laser printers, multimedia projectors, Internet access, and a wide array of popular software applications.

Departmental Laboratories include:

  • A Computer Center for the HCU College of Business Administration:
    It hosts two computer laboratories with 35 plus personal computers in each. Labs are located in Block G on the first floor.

  • A Computer Center for the HCU College of Engineering:
    It hosts two computer laboratories similar to those of the College of Business Administration and contains 35 plus personal computers each. Labs are located in Block C on the first floor.  Network servers are available for teaching of high-level undergraduate courses for all engineering majors.

  • Major-Specific Engineering Laboratories:
    A total of 7 laboratories for the Computer and Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control, Physics, and a Machine Shop laboratory are available. All major-specific engineering laboratories are located in Block C & D and are equipped with cutting edge hardware and software available in the market.

Help Desk

This Center provides support information concerning Internet access, desktop applications, viruses, e-mails, FTP, tutorials, scanning, and computing facilities.

Wireless Network

Wireless network allows  the user  to connect her/his computer  to a network using  radio waves  instead  of wires,  as  long  as  s/he  is within  the  range  of  a wireless  access  point.  It  covers  the  whole  campus  (labs,  classes,  library, cafeteria …)

HCU Website

HCU website, www.hcu.edu.lb, is developed and continually updated and improved to serve as part of the University integrated marketing and communications plan.

Internet and Intranet

The Internet and Intranet services are developed and implemented to provide a channel  for  formal  University  community  communications  and  research  for faculty, staff, and students.

The student's webmail is a web-based email application that allows students to read, send and organize their emails via a web browser.

Student Information System (SIS)

The SIS provides students with several online services. Using the SIS, students can register for their courses, subscribe for the shuttle system, download their statement  of  fees,  review  their  schedules  regurarly,  check  their  grades  and much more.
